Welcome to 13
13 believes that literature saves lives, in the very simple manner of a good story or poem or essay giving you strength to live another day.
The work in 13 will be high-quality, imaginative, engaging, full of soul and spirit, occasionally tackling the issues of mental illness (which has a long-standing relationship with literature) and most often simply grappling with what it means to be a human being – young, old – in this crazy world.
The audience will be anyone from junior high school students on upward. 13 wants to make excellent work accessible to high school and college students for whom reading – and writing – may be part of their salvation.
